What is a Direct Debit Paperless Script?

 

The Paperless Direct Debit (PDD) service enables organisations to collect payments via Direct Debit without requiring customers to complete and sign a physical mandate form. Instead, customer details—including name, address, and bank account information—can be gathered through secure channels such as telephone conversations, face-to-face meetings, or online forms. 

To comply with Direct Debit regulations, the organisation must read a standardised Paperless Direct Debit script to the customer during the call. This script ensures the customer is fully informed about the agreement. As part of this process, the organisation is also required to either read aloud or send the Direct Debit Guarantee to the customer. This guarantee outlines the customer's rights and protections under the Direct Debit scheme. 

Once the information is collected, it is entered into the London & Zurich (L&Z) portal system, allowing for scheduled payment collections to begin.
