Error messages when processing refund. What do they mean?

This error appears when you try to request a refund for a collection that is outside the permitted time window.

 

1. “Collection is outdated (Collection date is out of required date range, too soon/long ago.)”

This error appears when you try to request a refund for a collection that is outside the permitted time window.

A refund can only be requested if the collection date is:

  • Not older than 180 days, and

  • At least 3 working days before today’s date

If the collection does not meet both conditions, the system will reject the refund request.


2. “Requested total refund amount is greater than collection amount.”

This error appears when the refund amount you are trying to request is more than the value of the original collection.

This can occur if:

  • The single refund amount entered is higher than the original collection amount, or

  • The combined total of previous refunds plus the new requested refund exceeds the original collection amount

How to resolve it

Ensure that the total of all refund requests for that payment does not exceed the original collection value.
